The “Safe Company” Anniversary Medical Rescue Championships

The statistics show that an average time from calling for help to the arrival of emergency services to the scene of an accident is 8 minutes in a city and about 15 minutes outside the city. Although this is a very short response time, as emphasized by rescuers, in many cases, the injured persons’ chances of survival depend on the witnesses and the first aid they can provide before the ambulance reaches the scene. Unfortunately, many of us are still unable to give first aid, which is why to continue educate people is so vital. The organizers of the “Safe Company” Medical Rescue Championships realize it very well and have trained employees on first aid for many years. During the 10th Anniversary Championships, the participants have learned about the significance of the 10 platinum minutes for life.

Statistically, it would be possible to save a half of the people who are in a medical emergency, if witnesses to the events did not wait for an ambulance, but gave first aid on their own. In many cases, such help may be decisive for the chances an injured person has to survive. Performing even the simplest rescue activities increases the injured person’s chances to live.

Unfortunately, Poles’ activity in terms of first aid is unsatisfactory. Compared to other European countries, we fall far behind. For example, in Europe, about 40% of people with a cardiac arrest fully recover because they receive first aid at the place of an accident. In Poland, this rate is only 4%.

According to the experts, although the first aid statistics for Poland are still below expectations, every year the first aid awareness is gradually increasing. There is also a raise in the number of participants in professional trainings and courses. As emphasized by the organizers of the “Safe Company” Championships, big companies more and more frequently recognize the need for such services.

Companies become increasingly interested in training their employees on first aid. Every year, many representatives from different companies participate in the “Safe Company” medical rescue championships. In the previous years, we have had the opportunity to train over 1,500 people.

Our partners emphasize that the first premedical aid training, apart from its advantages for employees, is also an important element of their business social responsibility and of building a positive image of their companies.
